A little gem

This short and succinct book is SO helpful in interpreting cross-cultural interactions between Arabs and Westerners. I have some Arab friends and often found myself very confused about what was going on beneath the conversation. For example, at times I felt I disappointed one of my friends, but couldn't figure out why. This book helped explain the subtleties of conversation and what I said that was misinterpreted. (A quick example of a cross cultural misunderstanding: when someone of an Arab culture asks you for a favor, you are better off saying Yes, Of Course, even if you know you can't do it. If you later explain how you weren't able to do what they asked, that's acceptable. I think most Westerners are used to saying No, Sorry if they know they can't do something. This can offend some Arab people.) There are many more situations explained in the book, and the chapters are labeled so that the information you seek is pretty easy to find.
