Maureen P. Davey, PhD, LMFT, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Couple and Family Therapy at Drexel University and also maintains a private practice where she sees individuals, couples, and families.

For beginning therapists in an educational setting (Master's level), not helpful for supervising busy working professionals

This book's target audience is Master's Level counseling students studying marriage and family therapy. All of the activities are directed towards entry-level therapists who are introspective highly-motivated. I bought to help find supervision activities for counselors in a methadone clinic. These activities didn't fit my audience, because 1) many of the counselors I work with have years of experience, 2) working professional in a methadone clinic are busy with their caseloads, and 3) methadone follows a medical model which is more results oriented rather than introspective and existential. The counselors I work with don't have time to spend eight weeks journaling about their culture bias and several hours to discuss that bias as a group. This would be a great book for a professor teaching a group supervision class to her students.
